„StreetArt” Festiwal, Pszczyna 2009

The „Tabula Rasa” project was carried out during the „Street Art” festival in Pszczyna. It consisted of placing a guard booth in the Historic Park of Pszczyna. Under the roof of the booth, I have installed an alarm beacon and a motion sensor. Aditionally a blister packs with sim cards of one of the popular mobile networks were hung inside. Each attempt to take the „gift” hanging inside the booth was therefore also the beginning of a very specific interaction.

The festival lasted about two weeks. At that time, tourists and residents of Pszczyna could take their starters free of charge. Every few days they were supplemented by me. Finally, about thirty sets were taken. I have previously written down all contact numbers. A few days before the end of the festival – when they were all „in use” – I could start the final phase of the project, which was an attempt to contact their new users. Every few hours I sent short text messages to them. The whole procedure was intended to lead to our real meeting and dinner in one of the restaurants in Pszczyna. Unfortunately, no one answered my invitation.
