Tomasz Drewicz born 29.04.1982 in Oborniki Wielkopolskie. Artist, curator, critic and culture animator. From 2001 to 2005, he studied at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environmental Engineering of the Poznań University of Technology. From 2004 to 2009 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań. He graduated from the Faculty of Artistic Education in two specializations: Art Promotion and Criticism of Art and Art Pedagogy. Diploma in the second range from Sculpture. In 2014 he was graduated with a PhD in art.
Currently, he works at the University of Arts in Poznań as an adjunct professor in the Studio of Sculpture and Spatial Activities.
Winner of the scholarship of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage „Young Poland” and the Artistic Scholarship of the City of Poznań. He has organized several solo exhibitions. He also took part in several group exhibitions in Poland and abroad. He publishes texts in Polish and foreign magazines.
In his artistic practice, he deals mainly with installations and objects. He often uses other media such as photography, video and sometimes even performance. He calls his works as „Zdӕrzenie” – a concept fusing “event” (pl. ZdArzenie) and “collision” (pl. ZdErzenie) and often invites the audience to co-create them. Recently he has been dealing with issues related to the idea of symmetry considered in non-plastic/visual or aesthetic fields.
He lives and works in Poznań…
